History: Purpura senilis (senile purpura) is common purpura in older individual due to microvascular injury that blood vessels are more easily damaged. Most common localization are limited to the extensor surface of the arms. Extremely common sign of aging , especially in individuals who have had extensive sun exposure and used corticosteroids. Chronic solar radiation is felt to be the main predisposing factor. The vessels walls appear to be more fragile. Mechanical trauma is the immediate cause of the purpura. Similar changes can be seen after prolonged systemic or topical use of corticosteroid (steroid purpura). Management: avoidance of predisposing factors such trauma, sun, topical steroid and oral Vitamin C. Case: A 61-year-old male with chief complain of multiple bizarre purpura patches on the externsor surface of forearms.
