Editor's note. A cutaneous horn is a projection of cornified material from the skin. It is usually solitary and found on the ear, cheek or temple. If there is significant surrounding solar damage a cutaneous horn may overlie a solar keratosis or squamous cell carcinoma. Cutaneous horns can also be seen in discoid lupus erythematosus. Most are just shaved off and further surgery done if an SCC is found in the base.
