History: Lichen planus is characterized by the eruption of violaceous colored,  pruritic, polygonal papules and plaques commonly involving the flexor aspects of upper limbs, genitalia, and mucous membranes.  LP represents a cell mediated immune response of unknown etiology.  An association has been noted between LP and hepatitis C virus infection, chronic active hepatitis, and primary biliary cirrhosis.  It can occur at any age but most of the patients are aged between 30-60 years.
