History:

Lepromatous leprosy involving the face presents as multiple infiltrated papules and plaques.There is a preference for areas such as the ear lobes.The lesions have many bacilli among them and can be seen utilising a slit smear.Lepromatous lesions can be divided into diffuse,plaque and nodular types.The diffuse type usually involves the forehead with loss of the eyebrows.The nodular form typically is seen in the cooler acral areas of the body such as the ears,nose chin and hands.
