History:

Berloque dermatitis is a term referring to a ‘pendant’ (French: berloque) of hyperpigmentation produced by the photosensitizing furocoumarin-containing oil of bergamot found in perfumes and cosmetics. It has a distinctive clinical presentation and presents as localized hyperpigmented patches which assume drop-like shapes resembling pendants and are usually located on the sides of the neck or retroauricular areas. This boy presented with diffuse hyperpigmented patches involving one side of the face, neck and the V-shaped area of the chest in a photosensitive distribution after a perfume use two weeks before presentation.
