History: Leishmaniasis is a disease caused by protozoa,  Transmitted by the bite of a sandfly, the clinical spectrum of leishmaniasis ranges from a self-resolving cutaneous ulcer, to a mutilating mucocutaneous disease, to a fatal systemic illness.
