Differential DiagnosisHistory:
He presented with a two year history of a swollen boggy scalp with oozing of serous fluid and pus.There was associated hair loss and scarring of his scalp.It was not as tender as one might have expected. Swabs grew staph aureus but fungal cultures were negative. The DOJ reference below explains the condition.
In tufted follicles multiple hairs arise from a single opening.
