Differential DiagnosisHistory: Sunburn or solar erythema is the most common deleterious effect that results when the skin is subjected to excessive radiation in the ultraviolet range. Erythema associated with edema, warmth, and tenderness develops after 2-6 hours and peaks at 12-24 hours. In severe cases constituitional symptoms and blistering may also occur. Sunburn usually resolves in 4-7 days with susequent desquamation.
