Differential DiagnosisHistory: Acne keloidalis nuchae was first described by Kaposi in 1869 as dermatitis papillaris capillitii. It is characterized by chronic folliculitis and perifolliculitis of the occipital part of the scalp and the posterior part of the neck, with subsequent healing with keloid like lesions, sometimes with discharging sinuses. The keloid like lesions may coalesce to form large plaques, which gradually enlarge for years.
