History:

Patient of Dr P Barua

37 yrs Male, previously (a year ago) diagnosed by me as a case of Fixed Drug Eruption due to
Ciprofloxacin. Recently he took the drug again and developed lesions on the same places but less severe and less in numbers. Previously the lesions were aggressive and lips & genitalia were involved- treated with oral prednisolone
This time I prescribed him only Oral Anti-histamine and Topical steroid
Please comment on treatment.

Red and non scaly rash so CU DVA EVIE with the history of a fixed drug reaction in the past being important. You might have expected this episode to have been more severe but you say it was less. The rash certainly looks like a fixed drug reaction to a drug taken intermittently. It will settle with post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. (Submitted By: Dr Ian McColl)
