Differential DiagnosisHistory:
Localised hair loss. This has been steadily progressive over an 8 month period and is in an oophiasis pattern extending over the ears and to the occipital scalp.
Some regrowth has occured without treatment as you can see in the second slide. We used diluted intralesional Kenacort A10 1 ml with 3 mls of local into the involved areas diffusely intra dermally with small injections about
one centimeter apart. Novasone lotion and Tracrolimus ointment will be used on the bare areas to try to suppress the immune reaction on the follicle.
JAK inhibitors are new drugs which show promise in about 30% of patients of significant hair regrowth if taken orally. Topical therapy is not as successful.
