Differential DiagnosisHistory:
Viral exanthems are usually red non scaly rashes either macular or maculopapular with associated fever and sometimes lymphadenopathy. Occassionally some lesions may be erythema multiforme like with target lesions or rarely non blanching and hemorrhagic. The latter are always the more worrying but can occur with enteroviruses. Non the less fever and purpura should always make you consider meningococcal infection.
