History:

Pityriasis rubra pilaris in children is uncommon and presents as three different types.

The classic type of which this is an example has all the features of the adult onset type with  follicular papules,generalised involvement ,islands of sparing,keratoderma and ectropion.There is also a localised variant confined to the elbows and knees called the circumscribed juvenile variant.There is also the atypical juvenile variant with marked follicular hyperkeratoses,less erythema and scleroderma like changes to the hands and feet.
