Differential DiagnosisHistory: A simple Gram stain of urethral exudate is the method of choice for the detection of gonorrhea in symptomatic males because it is much less expensive and much more rapid than other diagnotic techniques. The presence of typical gram-negative intracellular diplococci after Gram stain establishes a diagnosis of gonorrhea
