Differential DiagnosisHistory: Hand Foot and Mouth Disease as the name suggests initially involves the mouth with vesicles on the buccal surface surrounded by a red areola. The vesicles on the hands and feet are similar but are often oval or linear in shape running parallel to the skin lines. It is usually caused by the coxsackievirus A-16 but other coxsackie or enteroviruses can also be responsible. The condition usually resolves within the week.
