Differential DiagnosisHistory: These images show microscopic appearance of a few viable nits. They are usually found within 1 cm of the scalp and each contains an embryo that occupies most of the nit. A viable embryo should show some movement inside the nit. Often one or two prominent eye spots are visible, and the nit has a rounded distal end, the operculum.
