Differential DiagnosisHistory: Sweet's syndrome or Acute Febrile Neutrophilic Dermatosis was first described in 1964 by Dr Robert Sweet. The four subtypes described are 1. the classic type, 2. that associated with neoplasia, 3. with inflammatory disease and 4. with pregnancy. The plaques and nodules that arise may develope vesiculation or pustules on the surface because of intense dermal edema. This particular patient had ulcerative collitis which had flared recently. The lesions responded rapidly to oral steroids.
