Congenital lymphedema, also called Milroy's disease is an uncommon condition ocurring due to hypoplasia of lymphatics. It is not always present at birth as in this case. The disease may have its onset during puberty- lymphedema precox, or later- lymphedema tarda. Secondary bacterial invasion resulting in fever and chills, and eczematisation are the usual complications.
The treatment is mainly reconstructive surgery following initial debulking surgery.
