History: Severe periungual warts are a terrible management problem.Any surgical therapy directed at the warts on the posterior nail fold will damage the underlying nail matrix and cause a lifelong nail deformity.Why some people fail to form immune reactions to the papilloma virus in the absence of any signs of immunosupression I do not know.If an immune reaction does occur these lesions will clear completely without any scarring.
