Differential DiagnosisHistory: This elderly man had Herpes Zoster which was initially localised but due to immunosuppresion the varicella virus spread like the initial chickenpox virus it actually was and spread to the brain as well causing an encephalitis. This phenomenon can be seen in patients with AIDS but in this case it was due to the poorer immune system elderly patients possess.
