Differential DiagnosisHistory:
Pityriasis lichenoides is seen in two forms,a chronic form with little inflammation and an acute form PLEVA or Pityriasis lichenoides et varioliformis acuta which is very inflammatory and can cause chickenpox like scabs with necrotic lesions and a high fever.This case is the more inflammatory type.
Treatment with ultraviolet light is the most effective treatment available although tetracycline or erythromycin antibiotics have been effective in children.
