Alopecia areata is patchy loss of hair without atrophy.The etiology is not known with certainity.Autoimmunity is one of the important cause.There are many types of AA. atopic,autoimmune,prehypertensive aredescribed.Ophiasis(serpentine like) begins at occiput and slowly progresses anteriorly as well as bilaterally along scalp margins in a band like fashion.
