Differential DiagnosisHistory:
Patient's father died of melanoma, prompting a first-ever total body skin check in this otherwise healthy young man. One small pigmented macule stuck out ("ugly ducking") and looked abnormal on dermoscopy. The lesion was excised, and proved to be superficial malignant melanoma, 0.15mm in thickness. Excision should be curative.
