History:

This young woman had multiple transverse bands of wihte discoloration affecting finger and toe nails since birth.  Leukonychia is mostly acquired but it may be hereditary.  Hereditary leukonychia has been observed to have an autosomal dominant pattern either alone or in association with a clinical syndrome.
