History: A toddler presented with a patchy, erythematous, pustular, scaly and crusted dermatitis involving the periorificial sites around the mouth and nose and the acral parts (hands and feet). Also the periungual areas were red and scaly with partial nail dystrophy. She also suffered chronic mild diarrhea. Serum zinc level was 40 mg/dl. She improved quickly and greatly on initiation of therapy with zinc sulfate supplementation at a dose of 2 mg/kg/day.
