Differential DiagnosisHistory: Herpes zoster or shingles is a common and distinctive condition with the typical one sided dermatomal distribution.There is preceeding pain before the rash appears.Post herpetic neuralgia is a common complication.Early therapy with antiviral agents such as Acyclovir will settle the condition rapidly.
