Differential DiagnosisHistory: Xanthomas might indicate an underlying disorder of lipid metabolism. Tuberous xanthomas tend to occur on pressure areas like elbows, knees and buttocks. They are usually associated with hypercholesterolemia and increased levels of LDL.
