History:

Any part of the oral cavity may be involved by hyperpigmentation like the buccal mucosa, palate, dorsal surface of the tongue, gums and teeth. There are so many causes for oral pigmentation; one of these causes is smoking. This patient smoked an average about 40 cigarettes per day for 20 years. On examination, there is marked rusty-brownish pigmentation of the teeth and the dorsal surface of the tongue. Smoking is considered as the most common cause of dental discoloration.
