History:

An itchy, erythematous, scaly plaque with an active border involved most of the lower half of the face extending from one cheek across the chin and neck to the other cheek of one year duration. The patient used many topical corticosteroid preparations prescribed by GPs and sometimes by the patient herself. Of these preparations clobetasol propionate (superpotent cs) and betamethasone valerate (potent cs) in cream and ointment bases applied for long periods. She improved partially and transiently on these agents but shortly later deteriorates with extension of the rash each time these agents used to reach the present picture within one year.
